HARRY W. NICE, GOVERNOR. 391

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 418 of Article 17 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Prince George's County, " sub-title "Edmonston, " be and
the same is hereby, repealed.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That Sections 402
and 404 of Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Prince George's County, "
sub-title "Edmonston, " as repealed and re-enacted by
Chapter 407 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1933
be, and the same are hereby, repealed and re-enacted with
amendments to read as follows:

402. At the first election of officers held under this
Charter, after notice printed in some county news-
paper, the qualified voters of the town shall elect
a Mayor and Treasurer to serve the term of one year,
and shall elect four Councilmen, two from each ward, to
be voted for by the qualified voters of each ward, one from
each ward to serve for the term of two years and one from
each ward to serve for the term of one year. At the first
meeting the Mayor and Councilmen shall designate the
time to be served by each Councilman. At each successive
annual election the qualified voters of each ward in which
there is a vacancy shall elect a Councilman to serve for
two years, after notice printed in the same county news-
paper. Beginning with the annual election in 1935 and
thereafter, the Mayor and the Treasurer shall be elected
and hold office for the term of two years., The Mayor and
Treasurer must continually reside in said town, and each
councilman in his respective ward during their term of
office, and they shall receive no compensation for their
services.

404. Annually on or before the first Monday in April,
after notice printed in some county newspaper, the Mayor
and Town Council shall appoint not less than one judge and
one clerk to conduct an election by ballot on the first Mon-
day of May, if not a legal holiday, and if a legal holiday,
then on the day following, for the election of officers pro-
vided for in Section 402, and in its discretion when the
situation require it they may appoint an additional judge
and an additional clerk for such purpose. Such election of-
ficers shall themselves be eligible for registration as voters
under the provisions of this act, and each ward shall be
represented by having either a judge or a clerk appointed
