1298 JOINT RESOLUTIONS.
Be it resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Governor be and he is hereby requested to appoint
a commission of five members, at least one or more of whom
shall be residents in Brooklyn and interested in improving
traffic conditions, the said commission to study and inves-
tigate the advisability of extending Patapsco Avenue west
from Hanover Street to connect with the Washington
Boulevard; and
Be it further resolved, That the said commission be re-
quested to submit its report as soon as possible to the Gov-
ernor and the State Roads Commission, with any recom-
mendations as to the route which said extension should
take, as well as the means of financing same.

NO. 19.
A Joint Resolution commending certain Judges and other
public officers for voluntarily taking the same cuts in
salaries as other officials.
WHEREAS, Two years ago the General Assembly in pass-
ing the State Budget for the two-year period 1933-1935
found it necessary to reduce the salaries of State employees
and officials, ranging from ten per cent, to fifteen per cent.;
and
WHEREAS, Under the Constitution it was not possible to
reduce the salaries of the Judges of the several courts; and
WHEREAS, Notwithstanding this provision several Judges
voluntarily applied the same percentage of reduction in sal-
aries to their own salaries; thereby returning to or leaving
in the State Treasury the same percentage of their salaries
as other State officials; and
WHEREAS, Section 35 of Article 3 of the Constitution pro-
vides that the "salary or compensation of any public offi-
cer" shall not be "diminished during his term of office" and
1 Section 52 of Article 3 of the Constitution provides that
"the salary or compensation of any public officer shall not
be decreased during his term of office"; and
