1296 JOINT RESOLUTIONS.

State of Maryland, and to determine the necessity and
economic feasibility of enacting legislation to provide
compensation for such diseases under the Workmen's
Compensation Law, and to study the subject of protec-
tion against such diseases, and to report thereon to the
Governor.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Governor of the State of Maryland, be, and is hereby au-
thorized and empowered to name a commission of nine
members to serve without compensation, one to represent
employees, one to represent self-insurers, one member to
be chosen from each of the following: The State Depart-
ment of Health, the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and
Public Health, the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of
Maryland, the Office of the Commissioner of Labor and
Statistics and The State Industrial Accident Commission,
and two to be selected at large, to determine whether or
not there is a need of compensation for occupational dis-
eases or any of such diseases under the Workmen's Com-
pensation Law, and if so the economic feasibility of enact-
ing legislation to provide for such compensation and in its
determination of these questions to hear testimony, col-
lect and study data from whatever source available and to
determine further what if any safety devices or preventa-
tive measures can or should be used by employers in the
prevention of such diseases or any of them, to make its
findings and report its recommendations to the Governor
on or before November 15, 1936 to be submitted by the
Governor to the General Assembly at its Session of 1937;
and be it further

Resolved, That the Attorney General of Maryland shall
be the legal advisor to said Commission; and be it further

Resolved, That the Governor is hereby authorized to
expend not in excess of $3, 000. 00 for the reasonable and
necessary expenses incurred by the said commission in its
investigation, study and report; and be it further

Resolved, That the Governor is hereby authorized and
directed to give the said commission such assistance
through the several State Departments as may be useful;
and be it further

Resolved, That this commission be known as the Mary-
land Commission for the Study of Occupational Diseases.
