1294 JOINT RESOLUTIONS.
WHEREAS, the Government of the United States of Amer-
ica, through its accredited representative, has given com-
fort and approbation to the government responsible for
the intolerable conditions which exist there, and
WHEREAS, there is now before the Congress of the United
States of America resolutions dealing with this subject,
Therefore be it resolved by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That we do hereby protest against the religious
persecutions by the Mexican Government which are repul-
sive to our traditional principles of religious tolerance, and
that a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the Mary-
land Representatives in Congress for appropriate action.

A Joint Resolution providing for the appointment of a
Commission to negotiate with the authorized representa-
tives of the several States of the Union in connection with
proposed interstate compacts.
WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the people of Maryland
that the closest co-operation between and among the several
States of the Union be had in the efforts to suppress crime
and to improve and make efficient the functioning of the
various agencies having to with the administration of crim-
inal justice, and
WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the people of Maryland
that uniform standards of legislation and procedure should
be adopted and maintained in such fields as probation, pa-
role, taxation, insurance, industry and labor, as well as in
other matters subject to State legislation and inherently
incidental to State Government, and
WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States has author-
ized and empowered the several States of the country to
enter into compacts between and among themselves;
Now therefore be it resolved by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That there be hereby established an unpaid
Commission, to be known as the "Commission on Interstate
