of the two Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 34.
AN ACT to add two new sections to, and to repeal and re-
enact with amendments Sections 7 and 9 of Chapter
551 of the Acts of 1933 of the General Assembly of
Maryland authorizing George Washington-Wakefield
Memorial Bridge, Inc., to construct a bridge across the
Potomac River, said new sections to follow immediately
after Section 12 thereof, and to be known as Section 13
and Section 14, all to provide that in the event that all of
the stock of George Washington Memorial Bridge Pub-
lic Corporation (formerly known as George Washing-
ton-Wakefield Memorial Bridge, Inc. ) shall be acquired
by the State Roads Commission, said Corporation shall
constitute a public benefit corporation and a public in-
strumentality and therefore that title to its real property
located in Maryland shall be taken in the name of the
State Roads Commission, that the tolls to be charged
upon the bridge to be constructed by said Corporation
shall be fixed at and limited to an amount sufficient to pay
the expenses of operation, repair and maintenance of said
bridge, and the interest on and principal of its bonds,
and that its bonds, and the tolls pledged to secure the
same, shall be exempt from Maryland taxes, and further
to provide that the State of Maryland shall not be in any
manner liable for the obligations of said Corporation,
and that said Corporation shall make reports and be sub-
ject to penalties as provided with respect to franchise
taxes in Article 81 of the Code of Public General Laws
of Maryland (1929 Supplement) and that none of the
provisions of Section 153 to 160 inclusive of Article 23
of the Code of General Laws of the State of Maryland
shall be applicable to said Corporation.
WHEREAS, The General Assembly of Maryland in order
to promote the prosperity of the people of this State author-
ized the George Washington-Wakefield Memorial Bridge,
Inc. (Now known as George Washington Memorial Bridge
Public Corporation) to construct a bridge across the Poto-
mac River, by Chapter 551 of the Acts of 1933 of the Gen-
eral Assembly of Maryland; and
