CHAPTER 357.

AN ACT to repeal that part of Chapter 246 of the Acts of 1868,
which provides, in the event of the diversion of the use of
the property mentioned in said Act for any other purpose
or purposes except as therein provided, that the said prop-
erty should be sold at public sale, and the proceeds thereof
returnable to the State, so as to authorize the University
of Maryland, a body corporate, the present owner of the
said property, to sell and convey said property, free, and
clear of any lien, rights or claim of the State of Maryland,
and free from any restrictions as to the use of said prop-
erty, and to retain for its corporate purposes in manner as
herein set forth the net proceeds from the sale of said
property.

WHEREAS, by the Acts of 1868 Chapter 246 entitled "An Act
to aid in the establishment of a hospital in connection with the
Washington University of Baltimore, and to appropriate money
for the same, " the sum of ten thousand dollars was appropri-
ated for such purposes, and, by said Acts it was provided that
the property acquired for such purposes should be held for the
exclusive use of the University, so long as it is devoted to the
purposes contemplated by the Acts, and, in the event of the di-
version to other purposes, to be sold by the trustees of the Uni-
versity at public sale, and the proceeds thereof returned to the
State; and

WHEREAS, by the Acts of 1878 Chapter 174 the said Wash-
ington University became consolidated with the College of Phy-
sicians and Surgeons, and, by the Acts of 1890 Chapter 572
the College of Physicians and Surgeons was authorized to use
the lot at the northwest corner of Calvert and Saratoga Streets,
which was acquired as the result of the appropriation made by
the Acts of 1868 Chapter 246 to the Washington University,
for any of the purposes specified in the charter of the College
of Physicians and Surgeons; and

WHEREAS, by deed dated December 31, 1915, and recorded
among the Land Records of Baltimore City in Liber S. C. L.
No. 3039, folio 98, etc., the College of Physicians and Surgeons
granted to the Regents of the University of Maryland, its suc-
cessors and assigns, all the property of the said the College of
Physicians and Surgeons, which included the said property at
the northwest corner of Calvert and Saratoga Streets; and
