26, 1917, and prior to November 11, 1918, and to each commis
sioned officer, warrant officer, nurse and enlisted man who enlist-
ed or was enrolled in or was mustered into the Federal Service
and who had been called upon to report for active duty in
the United States Naval Reserve forces, United States Marine
Corps, United States Coast Guard or National Naval Volunteers,
subsequent to March 26, and prior to November 11, as aforesaid,
and to every man who served during the war in the Regular
Army, Navy or Marine Corps or to the dependents or heirs-at-
law of the persons above enumerated as hereinafter provided in
section three, the sum of $10.00 a month for each month of ser-
vice as a token of appreciation of the character and spirit of
patriotic service and to perpetuate such appreciation as a part
of the History of Maryland; provided, that the allowance of
$10.00 per month to those in the regular Army, Navy or Marine
Corps shall cease as of November 11, 1918, except those per-
sons who enlisted for the duration of the war and
were assigned to the regular Army and Navy but discharged
subsequent to November 11, 1918; and provided further, that
no allowance shall be allowed to any one in the above mentioned
classes who was actually in the service less than ninety days;
provided, that every person on account of whose service the
application is filed had been a resident of the State for a period
of not less than six months immediately prior to his entry into
the service; and further provided that no benefit shall accrue
under this Act because of the service of any person who
enlisted or was inducted into the Military or Naval Forces who
did not report for duty on or prior to November 11, 1918, at the
Military Cantonment or Naval Station to which he was ordered
or who was discharged from service or relieved from active duty
and not recalled to the colors prior to January 15. 1918, but in
all cases of death in service or discharge for physical incapacity
received in line of duty the full amount of $10.00 per month
shall be payable based on service until November 11, 1918,
notwithstanding the provisions of this section.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That forms for applica-
tion for compensation under this act shall be furnished through
the office of the State Comptroller, which forms shall be ready
for distribution on or before January 1, 1923. All application
forms shall be returned on or before June 1, 1923, accompanied
by a certified copy of the applicant's discharge certificate, said
application and discharge certificate shall be turned in to the
office of the Adjutant General of the State of Maryland whose
