Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That the directors of the Maryland Penitentiary
shall have authority, and they are hereby authorised, to
grade the salaries of the officers of the penitentiary accord-
|

ing to the value of their respective services to that institu-
tion, in the opinion of the said directors; Provided, that
the aggregate amount thereof shall not exceed the sum paid
for the services of the officers of the penitentiary for the
year eighteen hundred and twenty-four.

|
An Act to authorise the Judges of Queen-Anne's Coun-
ty Court to issue a Commission to divide the Estate of
the late James Davidson.
|

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That the Judges of Queen Anne's county court be,
and they are hereby authorised and required, upon the ap-
plication of James D. Mitchell, Sarah E. Mitchell, George
Davidson, and Henrietta Davidson, heirs at law of Doctor
James Davidson, or of either of them, to issue a commissi-
on to make partition of the real estate of the said James
Davidson, situate in Queen-Anne's county, which was pur-
chased by him of Richard Tilghman, and known by the
name of Cedar-Dale, and to proceed in the partition thereof
in the same manner as if this case was embraced by the acts
of assembly regulating descents.

An Act authorising the Levy Court of Frederick Coun-
ty to levy a sum of money to erect a Bridge over the
Monocacy River.
|

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That from and after the passage of this act, the le-
vy court, of Frederick county be and they are hereby em-
powered, in their discretion," if it shall be thought by said
court necessary and proper, to levy a sum of money not
exceeding four thousand five hundred dollars, for the erec-
tion of a bridge over the river Monocacy at or near Wil-
liam Miller's Ford, of such materials and of such construc-
tion as they in their judgment may think best calculated to
promote the public interest.
