CHAPTER 22j5.
AN ACT to provide for the extension of the payment of the
indebtedness of the municipal corporation, the Town
Commissioners of Centreville, Queen Anne's County,
Maryland, authorized under the Acts of 1916, Chapter
84, as is due and unpaid.
WHEREAS, Under the provisions of Chapter 84 of the Acts
of the General Assembly of Maryland, passed at it Janu-
ary Session, 1916, the municipal corporation, the Town Com-
missioners of Centreville, did borrow on its promissory notes
the sum of $8,500.00 for the purposes and uses set forth in
said Act; and
WHEREAS, Owing to the extreme high costs of running and
maintaining the electric plant, the said municipal corpora-
tion, the Town Commissioners of Centreville, have only been
able to pay,the interest on said indebtedness and reduce the
principal of said indebtedness to $8,000.00; and
WHEREAS, Under the provisions of said Act of 1916, Chap-
ter 84, the said sum of $8,000 is due and payable on June 1,
1920; and
WHEREAS, The said municipal corporation, the Town Com-
missioners of Centreville, deem it unwise to levy during the
year 1920, a special tax to pay the entire principal sum, but
deem it desirable and to the interest of the said municipal
corporation, the Town Commissioners of Centreville, that the
time of payment of said notes now due be extended for a
period not exceeding four years from June 1. 1920; now
therefore
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the said municipal corporation, the Town Commis-
sioners of Centreville, be and it is hereby authorized and em-
powered to borrow, upon the faith and credit of said munici-
pal corporation, the sum of $8,000.00, being the balance of the
principal sum authorized under Chapter 84 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of Maryland for the year nineteen hundred
and sixteen, and to execute the promissory notes of the said
municipal corporation, the Town Commissioners of Centre-
ville, for the amount so borrowed. The said promissory notes
shall bear date the first day of June, in the year nineteen hun-
dred and twenty, and shall be drawn in such amounts and be
payable at such times not exceeding six months from said date
as the said municipal corporation, shall in its discretion deter-
