mine, but the total amount of said promissory notes shall not
exceed the sum. of $8,000.00. And the said municipal corpo-
ration, the Town Commissioners of Centreville, is hereby fur-
ther authorized and empowered, for and during a period of
not exceeding four years from and after the said first day of
June, nineteen hundred and twenty, to renew the said promis-
sory notes as they mature from time to time, in whole or in
part, until all of said promissory notes and the interest to
accrue thereon have been duly paid, but no renewal note shall
be so drawn as to be payable more than six months from its
date. No renewal note shall be so drawn as to fall due after
tag first day of June, nineteen hundred and twenty-four, and
no renewal, note shall be given by said municipal corporation
after the first day of June, nineteen hundred and twenty-four.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That if at the time of the an-
nual levy of taxes in the year nineteen hundred and twenty-
four, required to be made by said municipal corporation un-
der Chapter 439 of the Acts of 1914, any of the said renewal
notes authorized by this Act shall be unpaid, the said munici-
pal, corporation, at the time of making said annual levy for
the year 1924, shall levy a special tax on each one hundred
dollars of the assessed value of all property, real and personal,
in the corporate limits of the town of Centreville, Queen
Anne's County, Maryland, subject to taxation, in addition to
the other taxes now authorized to be levied and collected by
said municipal corporation, of such sum or sums as shall be
necessary, to pay the said renewal note or notes then outstand,
ing and unpaid. The said special tax shall be levied at the
same time, shall become due and in arrear at the same time,
and shall bear interest from the same date, and shall be a lien
on all property of the person or corporation assessed,and shall
on all property of the person or corporation assessed, and shall

poration. The proceeds of said special tax shall be kept
separate from the other funds of said municipal corporation
and shall be used for the payment of the aforesaid outstand-
ing and unpaid renewal note or notes, and for no other pur-
pose whatsoever.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the first day of June, nineteen hundred and twenty.
