CHAP. 195.
|
Hayman to negro George Hayman, shall be good and
valid in law as if the same had been signed in the pre-
sence of a witness, and the clerk of Somerset county
court is hereby required to issue a certificate of free-
dom in the usual form to the said George Hayman.

An act to provide for the erection of a bridge over the
Great Fulls of Gun Powder at Tyson's mill, in Bal-
timore county.
|

Commissioners
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That William Jessop, Samuel Worthington,
Henry Carroll, Jacob Hannan and William Tyson,
be, and they are hereby appointed commissioners, with
|
|
|
Contract and
build
|
power to contract for and cause to be erected a good,
safe aud substantial bridge over the Great Falls of
Gun Powder, at Tyson's mill or ford in Baltimore,
county, and they, the said commissioners or a majority
of them, are hereby authorised to select a suitable site
for said bridge, at or near said ford; and they are for-

Open a road
|
ther authorised to lay out and make public any way or
road they may deem necessary, to connect the public
road now leading across said ford with said bridge,
|
|
|
Assess damages
|
and to assess and certify to the commissioners of Bal-
timore county, such damages as to them shall appear
just and equitable to allow to the owners or proprietors
of any land, through which it may be necessary to lay
out any such connecting road or roads, taking into con-
sideration the advantages and disadvantages that may
|
|
|
Levy directed
|
accrue to said owners or proprietors of said land, and
the same shall be by the commissioners aforesaid levied
on the assessitblc property of said county, and paid to
the person or persons; entitled to the same.

Directions given
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the commissioners
aforesaid, or a majority of them, shall cause the said
bridge to be constructed in such a manner aud of such
materials as to them shall seem best and most condu-
cive to the public interest and convenience, provided,
the whole cost thereof, including the damages if any,
for the lands, and the expenses of laying out and mak-
ing any connecting road or roads to said bridge shall
