LAWS OF MARYLAND.

tend their said railway to the city of Baltimore to
such point or points and to connect or cause the
same to be connected with such of the railway
tracks in the said city, or which may be con-
structed therein, as the Mayor and City Council
of Baltimore shall permit, direct and ordain, and
subject to such restrictions, terms and conditions
as said Mayor and Council may prescribe and
impose, and as the Baltimore City Passenger Rail-
way Company shall consent and agree to.

Reduction of
grade.

Sec. 8. And be it enacted, That the said com-
pany are hereby required to reduce the grade of
the two hills, the one near the second mile stone
known as Long Hill, the other near the three mile
stone and known as Stony Hill, on the said turn-
pike road, eleven feet below their present grade,
or so as to make the whole grade of the road con-
form to the survey as made by Henry Tyson; and
that the grade shall be so reduced the whole width
of the turnpike.

Power to buy
out.

Sec. 9. And be it enacted, That the President
and Directors of said company shall buy out the
interest of any and all parties interested in run-
ning omnibuses on the line of the road contem-
plated by this act, at a fair compensation for their
horses, harness and omnibuses — the said valuation
to be fixed by the appointment of one referee by
each party who shall have the power to appoint a
third person, whose valuation shall be final and
settled by the said President and Directors upon
the completion of their road to Hookstown, Balti-
more county.

Time to com-
plete.

Sec. 10. And be it enacted, That the said Com-
pany shall be and they are hereby required-to com-
mettee the road within sixty days from the passage
of this act, and complete the same within eighteen
months thereafter.

Conditions.

Sec. 11. And be it enacted, That this act shall
cease and be void unless the said railway shall be
built and put into use from Baltimore to Pikes-
ville-within eighteen months from the first day of
April next.

In force.

Sec. 12. And be it enacted, That the Legislature
hereby reserves the right to alter, amend or repeal
