LAWS OF MARYLAND.

and seventy-fourth section of the said Article four-
teen of Public Local Laws, which empowers the
Trustees to fix a day for the electing of Trustees
and Clerks, be and the same is hereby repealed, so
far as the same relates to the said three school dis-
tricts number seven, eight and nine.

Elections.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the said qualified
taxable male inhabitants in said three school dis-
tricts shall assemble at the court-house in Chester-
town on the first Monday in April in each year
and elect the said Trustees and Clerk, but in case
of failure to elect at the said time and place, the
old Trustees, or a majority of them, may appoint
a day and place of election for Trustees and Clerk,
and in case of failure to do so for one month, the
said taxable inhabitants, upon notice, may call
such meeting and hold such election, and that the
existing Board of Trustees shall continue to act
until such new election; due notice, by publica-
tion, to be given in all cases of election.

Management
of schools.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That the one hundred
and eightieth section of said Article fourteen, be
so amended that the Trustees shall, in addition to
the power of expulsion contained in said section,
have the power to make all suitable and proper
regulations for the management of the schools and
the better regulation and deportment of the schol-
ars, and of the instructions, books, maps and charts
that shall be used and taught in said schools.

Power to sell,
&c.

Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That the Trustees of
said schools, or a majority of them, shall have
power to sell and dispose of a portion of the Pri-
mary school house lot in Chestertown, on part of
which the school house stands, erected, and to
convey the same in fee by deed duly executed and
acknowledged according to law, to the purchaser
or purchasers, and apply the proceeds of sale to
the repair or improvement of said school house
and premises.

Sec. 6. And be it enacted, That if a more eligible
site for a primary school house or houses can be
procured, the said Trustees, or a majority of them,
shall have the power to sell and convey the school
house, lot of land and premises, or the remaining
portion thereof, and convey the same in fee by
deed to the purchaser or purchasers, and apply the
