shares as they may deem necessary; for which they
may at their option, cause subscriptions to be re-
ceived in the manner prescribed by them, br may
sell the game for the benefit of the company, for
any sum not under their par value, and they b'r a
majority of them, shall have power to borrow
money for the objects of this act, to issue certifi-
cates, bonds, and other evidences of such loan's,
and to pledge the property of the company for "the
payment of the same and its interest, or the said
President and Directors, or a majority of them,
may for the objects of thjs act, make and execute
bonds or certificates of indebtedness under the seal
of said company, for such sum or sums, and pay-
able at such time or times, and may sell and dis-
pose of the same on such terms, as to the President
and Directors may seem proper.

When road to
be commenced
and completed.

Sec. 4. Be it further enacted, That unless the
said railroad hereby authorized, shall be com-
menced within one year from the date of the pas-
sage of this act, and be completed, with at least
one set of tracks, within five years from the pas-
sage of this act, this act shall be void and of no
effect, and the General Assembly reserves to itself
the right to alter, amend or repeal this act at
pleasure.

Charges for
transportation
and freight.

Sec. 5. Be it further enacted, That the same fa-
cilities and charges for transportation of freight
and passengers, shall be in every respect, as are
furnished and charged per mile by the said com-
pany on the main stem of their road leading to
Baltimore.

Right to con-
struct branch
road.

Sec. 6. Be it further enacted, That the said Bal-
timore and Ohio Rail Road Company shall have
the right to construct a branch road from any point,
of Rockville to tide-water at Georgetown.

Reservation.

Sec. 7. Be it further enacted, That in case the
Baltimore and Ohio Rail Road Company should
not avail themselves of the privileges given in the
sixth section of this act, within two years from
the completion of their said road, then, and in
that case, the corporation of Georgetown, is here-
by empowered to make such connection...

In force.

Sec. 8. Be it further enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the day of its passage.
