594 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

the roads, sidewalks, sanitary measures, drainage and other
improvements in said village, if forty per cent, or more of
the persons residing in said village and owning taxable real
or personal property in said village shall petition thereof.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Board of County Commissioners. of Baltimore
County, at the time of the annual tax levy for this year, and
each succeeding year, are hereby authorized, directed and
required to make a special annual levy of such amount as may
be mentioned in the petition hereinafter referred to, on each
one hundred dollars of the whole assessable property situate in
the village of Lakeland, in Baltimore County, to be collected
as other county taxes in said county are collected, and said
special annual levy to be paid over by the said County Com-
missioners to the treasurer of the Lakeland Improvement
Association of Baltimore County, to be used by said Associa-
tion exclusively for the betterment of the roads, sidewalk,
sanitary measures, drainage and other improvement in said
village of Lakeland, provided forty per cent, or more of the
persons residing in said village of Lakeland and owning such
taxable real or personal property in said village shall, prior
to each annual levy, petition the said County Commissioners,
thereby asking that special levy be made, and in said petition
mentioning the amount desired to be specially levied, provided
the same shall not exceed the sum of twenty cents on each one
hundred dollars of assessable property as aforesaid; provided,
however, that all taxes collected under the provisions of this
Act and turned over to the treasurer of the said Lakeland Im-
provement Association of Baltimore County, shall be used exclu-
sively for the betterment of the roads, sidewalk, drainage, sani-
tary measures and other improvements within the area as pro-
vided for in Section two of this Act.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That for the purposes of
this Act, the metes and bounds of the village of Lakeland shall
be deemed and taken to be as follows:

Beginning at the intersection of the northwest side of the
Hollins Ferry road and the southwest side of the right of
way of the Curtis Bay branch of the Baltimore and Ohio Rail-
road, and running thence in a northwesterly direction along
the south westernmost side of the right of way of the said
Curtis Bay branch of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad to the
southernmost side of the right of way of the main line of the
Baltimore and Ohio Railroad and thence in a westerly direc-
tion bounding on the said southernmost side of said main line
of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad to the dividing line be-
tween the property of William E. Brohawn and the property
of Mrs. Catherine Gable, thence in a southerly direction along
