SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the cost of said survey
shall be paid by the State Roads Commission out of any funds
in their hands available for such purposes.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the above mentioned road
shall constitute a part of the State Roads System of Maryland
and be maintained after its construction the same as are other
roads constructed by the State, prior to the passage of this
Act
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this Act shall go into effect
from the first day of June, 1918.

CHAPTER 388.
AN ACT to authorize and empower the State Roads Commis-
sion to construct and thereafter maintain as a part of the
State Roada System, an improved concrete highway from
Bureau to Grove, in Caroline County, and to allot a suffi-
cient amount from the Federal Aid Road Fund and from
the State funds available for this purpose to construct said
road.
WHEREAS, there remains a gap of unimproved road five and
one-sixth miles between Grove and Bureau, known as the River
Road, which, if completed, would give a continuous improved
highway from Cambridge to Denton several miles shorter than
any other route, and from Easton to Denton of about one-half
the distance now required to travel between these two towns
over any other improved highway; and
WHEREAS, the road between Grove and Bureau has been
surveyed and the cost of construction estimated by the State
Roads Commission as ordered by Chapter 538 of the Acts of
the General Assembly of Maryland of 1916; and
WHEREAS, this said incomplete link has been placed by the
State Roads Commission upon a list of roads to be built under
Federal aid; and
WHEREAS, the Federal law and regulations relating to the
construction of Federal Aid Roads require that not more than
fifty per cent, of the cost of construction be paid for out of
the Federal Funds; therefore,
