CHAPTER 269.

AN ACT to empower the board of public works to regulate
the introduction of improved methods of heating railroad
cars.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

Maryland, That the board of public works may, when it is
shown to their satisfaction by any railroad company that it is
impracticable for such railroad company to equip all of its
cars with heating apparatus other than stoves, within the time
required by law, prescribe what number of cars of such rail-
road company shall be equipped with improved heating
apparatus by such company in each year.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

Approved April 6th, 1894.

CHAPTER 270.

AN ACT to amend the charter of the Baltimore Northern
Railroad Company, extending and enlarging the powers and
privileges of said company, and authorizing certain practice
and proceedings in the acquisition of land and other prop-
erty for its use.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of


Maryland, That the charter of the Baltimore Northern Rail-
road Company, a corporation formed under the provisions of
article twenty-three of the Code of Public General Laws of
Maryland, title "Corporations," sub-title "Railroad Com-
panies," and all supplements thereto, and amendments thereof,
be and the same is hereby amended and altered as hereinafter
set forth, preserving and continuing, however, all the grants,
rights, powers and privileges heretofore held thereunder,
except as hereinafter changed and modified.

Amendment.

SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That in the exercise of the
powers of condemnation hy said company for the acquisition
of property or land, or an easement therein, or right appurte-
nant thereto, for its railroad or railroads, in the manner pro-
vided by article twenty-three of the Code of Public General
