proceeds of said sale shall execute a bond to the State of Mary-
land with surety or sureties to be approved by the County Com-
missioners in the penalty of five thousand dollars ($5,000), con-
ditioned for the faithful performance of his duties as such
treasurer, and to account for and pay over on the order of said
trustees the proceeds arising from said sale or sales.

26 C. That the said trustees of the poor are hereby authorized,
empowered and directed to apply the proceeds of said sale or
sales, after deducting the cost of advertising, the auctioneer's
fee and the necessary expenses of surveying same, and reporting
the sale, and twenty-five dollars ($25) to the person designated
by the said trustees to act as treasurer, and nothing else,' as the
same shall be received by their treasurer, to the payment of
their outstanding indebtedness; provided, that no part of said
money shall be used or applied until the said sale or sales have
been finally ratified by the County Commissioners.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from and after May 15, 1896.

CHAPTER 240.
AN ACT to prohibit bicycle riding upon the sidewalks of
public highways and of private roads in Baltimore County,

Effective.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That it shall not be lawful for any person or persons
riding on a bicycle or other vehicle of that description, to ride
upon any sidewalk or footway laid along any public highway
in Baltimore county, or upon any sidewalk or footway laid
along any private road or street in the said county.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That any person violat-
ing this act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and
upon conviction thereof, before a justice of the peace, shall be
liable to a fine of not less than two dollars ($2) nor more than
five dollars ($5) for each and every offense, the said fine to be
paid to the School Commissioners of Baltimore county for the
benefit of the public schools therein.
