queaths to the Bishop of the Protestant Epis-
copal Church in Maryland, one bond of the
Columbia and Greenville Railroad Company
for one thousand dollars, to be used by him as.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 107.

AN ACT to enlarge the powers of railroad
companies by authorizing them to cross
other railroads, and regulating the mode of
condemning the easements of such crossings.

SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That every railroad com-
pany of this State, whether incorporated under
the general railroad law, chapter two hundred
and forty-two of the acts of eighteen hundred
and seventy-six, or any supplement thereto,
or heretofore or hereafter incorporated under
any special act, whereever it shall find it neces-

sary in the construction of its railroad or any
lateral branch, is hereby authorized to cross
at, under or over grade, any railroad now or
hereafter constructed; and if the said railroad
company cannot agree with the company or
companies owning and operating such rail-
road or railroads, whose track or tracks are to
be crossed, as to the compensation and terms
upon which such crossing or crossings shall be
made, then the said railroad company may
condemn the easement of such crossing or
crossings in the same mode prescribed for the
condemnation of the lands of individuals, in
