On motion by Mr. Gorman,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to intro-
duce a bill to repeal Sections 37, 38, 39 and 40 of Article 56
cf the Code of Public General Laws, title "Licenses," and to
re-enact the same with amendments.
On motion by Mr. Hepbron,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Agriculture to in-
troduce a bill to require all the grain coming into the City of
Baltimore to be weighed by the Weighers appointed by the
Governor.

On motion by Mr. Phelps,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Phelps, Aydelotte and Cooper
to introduce a bill to authorize the County Commisioners to
appoint an additional Constable for No. 1or North district,
in Dorchester county.

On motion by Mr. Aydelotte,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Aydelotte, Dennis and Hum-
phreys to introduce a bill entitled an Act to repeal Section
164 of Article 32 of the Code of Public Local Laws, entitled
''Worcester county," and to re-enact the same with amend-
ments.

On motion by Mr. Brewer,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to intro-
duce a bill entitled an Act to amend and re-enact Sections 1,
4, 18 and 58 to 86 inclusive, of Article 56, of the Code of
Public General Laws, entitled "Licenses," to repeal Section
19 of said Article, and to add further Sections to said Article,
regulating the sale of intoxicating liquors.

Mr. Getty presented the following

JOINT RESOLUTIONS.

WHEREAS, The Chairman of the Ways and Means Com-
mittee of the House of Representatives of the Congress of the
United States, has offered in that body a bill known as the
tariff bill, from which is excluded bituminous and semi-bitu-
minous coal, and

Whereas, The removal, or even abatement of the present
duty on this commodity, whilst iron and other manufactures
into which it enters arc protected, will very seriously affect
the development of the coal fields of this State and other
Status of this government, as the mines of Nova Scotia are
worked with cheaper labor, and lying upon the seaboard,
have the advantage over ours of cheap water transportation to
our eastern seaport towns and cities, therefore,

Be it Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the removal of the present duty on the bituminous and semi-
