bituminous coal of foreign countries, by the Congress of the
United Stetes, would be unwise, and repressive of the devel-
opment of one of the chief sources of wealth of this country,
and be it farther

Resolved, That our representatives in Congrpss be re-
quester to present these resolutions to that body, as expres-
sive of the sentiment of the people of Maryland upon this
question, and that they use their influence to prevent the
passage of a bill removing the present duty from bituminous
and semi-bituminous coal.

Be it further Resolved, That His Excellency, the Governor,
be requested to transmit a copy of these resolutions to our
Senators and representatives in Congress.
Which were read the first time.

Mr. Stevens, from the Committee on Judicial Proceedings,
reported unfavorably,

Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal Section 20, of Article
50, of the Code of Public General Laws, title "Juries," and
to re-enact the same with amendments.
Which was adopted.

Mr. Stevens, from the Committee on Judicial Proceedings,
reported favorably,

House bill entitled an Act to repeal Sections 619, 620, 625,
626, 627 and 628, of Article 4, of the Public Local Laws,
title "City of Baltimore," sub-title "Justices of the Peace
and Constables," and to enact certain Sections in lieu of the
Sections so repealed.
Being upon its second reading,
Mr. Steiner submitted the following amendment:
After "City," in line 3, Section 628—C, insert "and also
of the Constable's appointed by the Mayor."

Which was decided in the affirmative by yeas and nays, as
follows:
