ration created, and duly organized under the provisions of
the Act of Assembly, passed January Session, 1868, chapter
364, entitled an Act to incorporate the Baltimore and Drum
Point Railroad Company, and to extend the time for the
completion of the said Railroad.
Being upon a second reading,
Mr. Bird submitted the following amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Section 1, line 4, strike out the word "five" and insert
"ten."
Which was rejected.
Mr. Naill submitted the following amendment.
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
"Provided, however, and this extension of the charter of
the Baltimore and Drum Point Railroad Company, is granted,
in consideration and with the express condition, that the
President, Directors and Company of that Railroad shall,
without delay, under the hands of the President and Direc-
tors, and the corporate seal of that Company, in due form of
law, as shall be presented by the Attorney-General of this
State, grant, set over, assign, transfer and deliver to the
Treasurer of this State, all the shares of stock and certificate
in the Annapolis and Elk Ridge Railroad Company, and all
the claims, interest, property and demands in that Company,
now held or claimed by the Baltimore and Drum Point Rail-
road Company, to be held by the said Treasurer for the use
and benefit of this State, and to be subject to such proceed-
ing at law or otherwise, as shall be instituted by the Attor-
ney General of the State to protect the interest and rights of
the State in the Annapolis and Elk Ridge Railroad, as a pre-
ferred stockholder therein, to the sum of $300,000, and oth-
erwise."
Which was adopted.
Mr. Bird submitted the following amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Amend the bill by substituting the following for Sections
2, 3 and 4, to be known as Section 2.
"Section 2. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the appropriation made by the State of Maryland
to Calvert county by the Act passed at January Session,
1868, chapter 454, of $52,000 to aid said county in the
work of internal improvement and the subscription of said
county of $ 100,000 to the capital stock of the Baltimore and
Drum Point Railroad Company, ratified by Act of Assembly
passed; January Session, 1874, chapter 159, shall be ex-
