said new sections to be known as Sections 994A and 994B
of said Article 16 and Sections 1018A and 1018B of said
Article 17, and to follow immediately after Section 994
of said Article 16 and Section 1018 of said Article 17,
authorizing the issuance of bonds of the Washington Subur-
ban Sanitary District for the purpose of refunding bonds
maturing or redeemable within five years after the date
of such refunding, and authorizing the replacement of any
bonds which shall have become mutilated or which shall
have been destroyed or lost.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That two new sections be and the same are hereby
added to Article 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land (also Article 17 of said Code), sub-title "Washington
Suburban Sanitary District", said new sections to be known
as Sections 994A and 994B of said Article 16 and Sections
1018A and 1018B of said Article 17, to follow immediately
after Section 994 of said Article 16 and Section 1018 of said
Article 17, and to read as follows:

994A (1018A). The Washington Suburban Sanitary Com-
mission be and it is hereby authorized to issue bonds of the
Washington Suburban Sanitary District at any time or times
for the purpose of refunding any bonds theretofore issued by
said District or by said Commission which shall then be
outstanding and which shall have matured or which shall
mature or be subject to redemption within five years after
the date of such refunding, provided that such refunding
bonds shall not exceed the aggregate principal amount of the
bonds to be refunded. Such refunding bonds shall be dated,
shall bear interest at such rate or rates not exceeding four
per centum (4%) per annum, shall mature at such time or
times not exceeding twenty years from their date, as may be
determined by the Commission, and may be made redeemable
before maturity, at the option of the Commission, at such
price or prices and under such terms and conditions as may
be fixed by the Commission prior to the issuance of the bonds.
Such bonds may be issued in coupon or in registered form,
or both, as the Commission may determine, and provision
may be made for the registration of any coupon bonds as to
principal alone and also as to both principal and interest,
and for the reconversion into coupon bonds of any bonds
registered as to both principal and interest. The Commission
shall fix the denomination or denominations of the bonds and
the form and manner of execution of the bonds and of any
interest coupons to be attached thereto. In case any officer
