of the Said Thomas Seawell his heires executors or admrs: or of any other person or persons

the Tearme of Ninety Nine years) or lawfully Claimeing to have any manner of estate -

This Indenture made the first day of May in the Second year of theire Maties Reigne ~
William & Mary by the grace of god King & Queene of Brittaine &c and in the year of our Lord ~
God one Thousand Six hundred & Ninety Betweene Capta: Henry Smith of the County of ~
Sommerset in the Province of Maryland of the one Party And John Goldsmith Junr: of the
County & Province aforesaid of the other part Wittnesseth That whereas the Rt: honble ~
Charles absolute Lord & Proprietary of the Province of Maryland & Avalon Lord Baron of ~
Baltemore &c by his Deed of graunt undr: y great Seale used in y aforesaid Province of Maryland
for graunting of Land there bearing date the Tenth day of August in the Ninth year of his ~
dominion Annoq. Dom: 1684 And for the Consideration therein Mentioned grant unto the said
Capta: Henry Smith all yt: parcell or Tract of Land Called Illchester Scituate Lyeing & being on
the east Side of Chesepeake bay on the South Side of the head of Manoakin river back in the woods
from the water Side bounded as by Pattent will appeare and Containing Nine hundred acres
more or Lesse Together with all rights Proffitts & Benefitts thereunto belonging (royall mines excepted)
To have & to hold to him y Said Capta: Henry Smith his heires & assignes forever under Such rents
Covenants Limitacons & exceptions as in & by the Said Deed of grant remayning upon record in the
Secretaries office recourse being thereunto had more fully and at Large it may & doth appeare Now
This Indenture further Wittnesseth That the above name Capta: Henry Smith for and in Consideration of
Eight Thousand pounds of tobacco to him in hand paid by the within named John Goldsmith before the ensealing
& delivery hereof whereof and wherewith the Said Capta: Henry Smith doth acknowledge himselfe fully Satisfied
paid & doth of and for Every part & parcell thereof acquitt & dischardge the sd. John Goldsmith his heires executrs
& administratrs. by these presents hath given granted bargained Sold feofed & Confirmed & doe by these pr:Sents
fully freely and absolutely give grant allienate bargaine Sell feofe & Confirmed unto the Sd: John Goldsmith
his heires or assignes for Ever one hundred acres of land Called Goldsmith delight out of y aboveSd: Tract Called
Illchester; bounded as ffollowth beginning at a marked white oake Standing upon the South Side of Smiths
branch downe in a pointe being the first bounder of the above Said Tract Called Illchester; thence running
southeast one hundred & eight perches to a marked white oake thence running north fifty degrees easterly
Two hundred & eighty perches thence running Northwest ffourty ffive - perches to the aforesaid
branch thence running downe the Sd: branch to the first bounder Containing & now laid out for one hundred
acres of Land more or Lesse together with the Said Deed of grant with all & Singular & houses buildings pas-
