CHAPTER 688.


AN ACT to amend section three of chapter 485 of the Acts


of Assembly of the year 1882 (being an act entitled "An


act to incorporate the Guarantee and Loan Company of


Maryland "), and to re-enact the same in a new and


amended form.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of


Maryland, That section 3, of chapter 485 of the Acts of


Assembly of the year 1882 (being an act entitled "An act

land"), be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted


in a new and amended form, so as to read as follows, to-wit :


SEC. 3. Be it enacted, That this company is hereby


authorized to guarantee the payment punctual, performance ,

tracts, bonds, accounts, claims, rents, annuities, mortgages,


choses in action, evidences of debt, and certificates of


property or value, and of titles to property, real, personal


or mixed, on such terms as may be established by the board


of directors of this company; and this company shall also


have power, aud is hereby authorized in and about the


prosecution of its business, to hold and acquire any real or


leasehold estate, or personal property, aud the same, from


time to time, to sell, assign, transfer, convey, mortgage, or


otherwise dispose of; also to receive on storage, deposit or


otherwise, merchandise, bullion, specie, plate, stock, bonds,


promissory notes, certificates and evidences of debts, con-


tracts, or other property, and to take the management, cus-


tody, and charge of real or personal eatate or property, and


to advance money, securities and credits upon any property


real, leasehold, personal or mixed, on such terms and with all


such powers of sale, or other disposition thereof as shall be


established by the charter or by-laws of this company, or by


agreement in writing between the said company and the per-


son or persons to whom advances as aforesaid may be made.


SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this act shall


take effect from the date of its passage.
