and treasurer and the payment thereof having received the


recommendation of said officers.


SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That this act shall take effect

CHAPTER 576.


AN ACT to authorize the Governor of the State to sign,


execute and acknowledge a deed conveying to the Canton


Company of Baltimore any interest of the State in a lot


in Canton in the city of Baltimore granted to the State


for a hay scales on conditions.


WHEREAS, by deed dated May 8th, 1865, executed


between the Canton Company of Baltimore aud the State of

Preamble.

Maryland, recorded among the land records of Baltimore


City, in Liber A. M., No. 275, folio 442 and C., the said com-


pany granted free of costs, to the State, a certain lot therein


described at the southwest corner of East Avenue and


O'Donnell Street fronting twenty -four feet on East Avenue


and running westerly on O'Dounell Street with even width,


forty -eight feet, to the State of Maryland to be used as a


site for a State hay scales upon the following condition,


namely: "Provided nevertheless," that if the hay scales


to be erected on said lot shall be removed at any time here-


after, or the lot shall cease to be used for the purpose of


weighing hay, &c., therein then the said lot of ground


shall revert again to the Canton Company of Baltimore its


successors and assigns as freely as if this deed had never


been executed.


AND WHEREAS, said lot has ceased to be used for the


purpose of weighing hay, &c., for more than five years, and

the said hay scales have been removed from said property


for over three years wherefore the said lot has reverted to


the said Canton Company of Baltimore by the terms of


said deed ; therefore,


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

Governor

Maryland, That the Governor of the State be authorized

to execute

to sign, execute, acknowledge and deliver, to the said Can-

deed.

ton Company of Baltimore on behalf of the State a deed


reconveying said lot of ground in said deed of May 8th,
