ferry boats to be used by the said corporation in carrying of pas-

|
|
|
sengers and subserve the public welfare; and
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, in the erection of implements and the carrying on
|
|
|

of said ferry the said company have incurred a floating indebted-
ness, and find it necessary for the proper accommodation of the.
|
|
|
|
business of the city of Baltimore and its citizens to make other
|
|
|
|
improvements and furnish better facilities at said ferry, and for
|
|
|
|
this purpose to borrow money; therefore,
|
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
|
|
|
|
That the term of the corporate existence of the Broadway and
|
|
|
To extend
|
Locust Point steam ferry company of Maryland, be and the same
|
|
|
|
is hereby extended for an additional period of twenty years from
|
|
|
|
the expiration of the twenty years mentioned by section one, of
|
|
|
|
the aforesaid act of eighteen hundred and seventy-six, chapter
|
|
|
|
three hundred and one.
|
|
|
|
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the said Broadway and
|
|
|
|
Locust Point steam ferry company of Maryland, be and is hereby
|
|
|
|
authorized and empowered to borrow money and issue promissory
|
|
|
Bonds
|
notes, bonds or other evidences of indebtedness for the same to
|
|
|
|
the extent of fifty thousand ($50,000) dollars, and to execute and
|
|
|
|
issue a mortgage or bonds on property of said company to secure
|
|
|
|
the payment of the said promissory notes, bonds or evidences of
|
|
|
|
indebtedness.
|
|
|
|
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the said Broadway and
|
|
|
|
Locust Point steam ferry company of Maryland is authorized and
|
|
|
|
empowered to erect and build two or more good and substantial
|
|
|
|
steam ferry boats, staunch and seaworthy and supplied according
|
|
|
|
to the laws and ordinances in such cases made and provided; to
|
|
|

pay off their present indebtedness or such portion thereof as they
|
|
|
|
may deem wise; to make such repairs or improvements on the
|
|
|
|
property or the line of the said ferry as they in their discretion
|
|
|
|
may deem proper, and to use the said fifty thousand ($50,000)
|
|
|
|
dollars or so much thereof as may be necessary to carry out the
|
|
|
|
object and the aims as aforesaid.

Effective.
|
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from
|
|
|
|
the date of its passage.
|
|
|
|
