Maple street from Clarke avenue to what is now called
River street.

Willow street from Front street to second street.

Oak street from Clarke avenue to Second street.

Market street on both sides of the Fountain to the property
of the Baltimore, Chesapeake and Atlantic Railway Company,
and it shall be in the discretion of said commission as to which
one of the streets above mentioned, or what portion of said
streets shall be first paved, curbed and otherwise improved;
provided that no street above mentioned nor any other street
in the said town shall be paved and improved in accordance
with the terms of this act until a sewer and water pipe of
proper size shall be laid, if not already laid, under the same
to connect with the other sewers in the said town or to be
given other proper outlet, and the said commission is hereby
authorized, empowered and directed, if they shall deem it
advisable, out of the monies borrowed under the terms of this
act, to lay, re-lay, put down and connect such sewers, and
provided further that it shall be considered an essential part of
the work of street improvement that sewer and water pipe con-
nections be run from such sewer and water main to the curb
line of all lots abutting on the street to be paved, whether the
lots are improved or unimproved, the cost of making such
water and sewer connections to be paid by the Pocomoke City
Street Commission out of the funds realized under the terms
of this act and to be in turn paid by the property owners when
they shall connect with same.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That the "Mayor and Council of
Pocomoke City" aforesaid are hereby authorized and empow-
ered and required to assess a part of the cost of improving such
streets as may be improved under the terms of this act upon
the property binding and abutting on each side of said streets
in the following manner: On the property or on the owners of
such property on each side of the street so improved the said
"Mayor and Council of Pocomoke City" shall assess one-fourth
of the entire cost of the improvements, including curbing and
gutters and if any other street or parts of streets shall be paved
under the provision of this act, the said "Mayor and Council
of Pocomoke City" shall assess the same cost or percentage,
namely twenty-five per cent., upon the property or the owners
of such property abutting upon each side of the street so
selected for improvement. All of the aforesaid assessments
upon abutting property shall be made and apportioned upon
the respective properties according to the front-foot rule of
apportionment, and when made shall constitute a tax or lien
