city; such contracts to be in writing and to be executed on their
part by the signatures of their chairman and secretary, and in
carrying out the objects of this act they may call to their assist-
ance a skilled engineer, or other person, familiar with modern
street construction, and may make such agreement as to com-
pensation and duties, with such engineer or other person, as
they may deem wise and advantageous. They shall keep min-
utes of their proceedings and other records and books necessary
to the proper administration of the duties herein imposed upon
them, such minutes and records to be open at any time to the
inspection of any taxpayers of Pocomoke City and to be turned
over, after the completion of their work herein authorized, to
the, custody of the Mayor and Council of Pocomoke City.
SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That in the discharge of the con-
tracts entered into by them for the work herein authorized, the
said commission shall issue a warrant on a majority vote, to be
signed by their chairman and secretary, for the payment of the
money due under the said contract or contracts, upon the treas-
urer of Pocomoke City, and the said treasurer shall pay such
warrants out of the funds in his hands applicable to the pur-
poses of this act. The treasurer shall not otherwise disburse
the money in his hands, as provided for in this act, than upon
the warrant of the said commission, executed as aforesaid.
SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That the aforesaid commission,
to be known as "The Pocomoke City Street Improvement Com-
mission," shall as soon as practicable after the passage of this
act organize and proceed with the work herein authorized and
that the streets that shall be paved and otherwise improved
under the provisions of this act before work is undertaken on
any other street or highway of the town of Pocomoke aforesaid
shall be as follows:
Market street from the Stone road at the corporate limits of
the town to Front street.
Front street from Willow street to Bridge street.
Bridge street from Front street to Terrapin Gut Bridge.
Clarke avenue from Market street to the railroad.
Second street from Lindon avenue to the railroad.
Walnut street from Clarke avenue to Fifth street.
Laurel street from Clarke avenue to Fourth street.
Cedar street from Clarke avenue to Fourth street.
Fourth street from Market to Laurel street.
Willow street from Front street to the property of the Bal-
timore, Chesapeake and Atlantic Railway Company.
Maple street from Clarke avenue to Second street.
