amount to $1,922,850, showing a balance of receipts over
expenditures of $74,450.00.
Statement "E" exhibits the condition of the Free School
and Sinking Funds, at the close of the fiscal year. On
30th September 1869, there remained to the credit of the
Free School Fund, the sum of $2,613.92. The receipts
during the fiscal year ended 30th September 1870, on ac-
count of the same fund, were $85,659.05, making in the
aggregate the sum of $88,272.97, being an increase of
123,490.96. over the receipts during the fiscal year ended
30th September 1869. The disbursements during the
same period, amounted to .$81,591.69, leaving a balance
to the credit of the Free School Fund, as of 30th Septem-
ber 1870, of $6,681.28. There was received during the
fiscal year ended 30th September 1870, the sum of
$89,006,81, to the credit of the Sinking Fund, which is
invested in bonds of the "Maryland Defence Loan,"
bearing interest from July 1st, 1870, at six per centum
per annum.
INVESTMENTS.
Statement "F" shows the investments for the "Sinking
Fund" and "Free School Fund," the former amounting to
$1.764,450.03, and the latter to the sum of $306,471.36,
including $1,962.14, the fund for the Indigent Blind.
DIVIDENDS.
Statement "G" exhibits the several amounts received
from dividends on Bank, Railroad and Canal Stocks du-
ring the fiscal year, amounting, in the aggregate, to the
sum of $104,610.08.
"OYSTER FUND."
Statement "H" shows the receipts from Licenses and
Oyster fines during the fiscal year to amount to $50,-
