CHAP. 365

CHAPTER 363.

Passed June 1,1836

An act to incorporate the Cumberland Hotel Company,

 

in Cumberland.

Incorporated

SECTION 1. Be it enacted ly the General Assembly of

 

Maryland, That David Schriver, Moore N. Falls,

 

John Gebbart, Richard Beall, and John Hoye and

 

Reubin Worthington, or a majority of them, be and

 

they are hereby appointed commissioners to receive

 

subscriptions to the capital stock of the Cumberland

 

Hotel Company in Cumberland, and they or any three

or more of them, are hereby authorised, alter giving

five days notice in two or more newspapers, published

 

in Allegany county, Baltimore city, and Washington

 

city, to open or cause to be opened a book or books, at

 

such time and place or places in the said county and

 

elsewhere as they shall appoint, and specify in the, no-

 

tice so given, and receive from any free persons of full

 

age, or any corporation, subscriptions of one or more

 

shares of twenty five dollars each of the capital stock

 

aforesaid, to an amount not exceeding fifty thousand

 

dollars, such subscription to be made in person or by

 

proxy, proved in such manner as the commissioners

shall require, and the sum of five dollars shall he paid

on each share to the commissions or to any person or

 

persons, by them authorised to receive subscriptions at

 

the time of subscribing; the said commissioners may

ter two thousand shares or more shall be subscribed,

and may apportion the shares in case of excess of sub-

 

scription, and within ten days after two thousand

shares of stock shall be so subscribed, the commission-

 

ears or any three or more of them shall appoint a day

 

and place in the town of Cumberland, of which they

 

shall give ten days notice as aforesaid, for the said

 

stockholders to meet and elect nine of the stockholders

 

directors of the company, to hold their office until the

 

next annual election, and any three or more of the

 

commissioners shall be judges of such election; imme-
