CHAPTER 117.
A Second Supplement to the act, entitled, An act to in-
corporate the Baltimore and Ohio Rail Rood Com-
pany, passed at December session eighteen hundred
and twenty-six, chapter one hundred and twenty-
three.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland. That the Baltimore and Ohio Rail Road Com-
pany shall have power to contract with any duly authoris-
ed officer or agent of the government of the United States,
for the conveyance or transportation of the mail of the
United States on the rail road from Baltimore to the Ohio
river; and also for the transportation of persons and pro-
perty on said rail road, for the use of the United States, on
such terms as shall be approved of by the proper officer of
the said government; and the said company shall have pow-
er to make special contracts with any authorised officer or
agent of the state of Maryland, or of any other of the
United States, or with any corporation, copartnership or
individual, for the exclusive use of any car, or part of a car
or wagon, on said rail road, for a limited time or distance,
and for the transportation thereon of horses, and other liv-
ing animals, and of carriages, furniture, plate, jewelry and
machinery of any description, on such terms as may be
agreed on by the parties.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted. That it shall be lawful for
the president and directors of the Baltimore and Ohio Rail
Road Company aforesaid, or a majority of them, to regu-
late, ascertain and fix, from time to time, the price or sum
to be charged and taken by the said company for receiv-
ing, weighing, delivering and storage, of merchandise,
produce, and other articles, and for the transportation of
any single bale, box, or parcel of merchandise, or other ar-
ticles, not exceeding two hundred and fifty pounds weight;
Provided always, that the legislature may at any time re-
gulate and restrict any of the charges and rates which the
said .president and directors may so ascertain and fix, if
