CHAPTER 432.

AN ACT to repeal section one hundred and thirty-
|
|
|
eight of article twenty-six of the Code of Public
|
|
|
General Laws, as enacted at the January session,
|
|
|
eighteen hundred and sixty-eight, chapter four
|
|
|
hundred and seventy-one, entitled " Corporations,"
|
|
|
sub-title " Mining and other purposes," and to re-
|
|
|
enact said section with amendments.
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
|
|
|
Maryland, That section one hundred and thirty-
|
|
|
eight of article twenty-six of the Code of Public
|
|
Repealed and
|
General Laws, as enacted at January session, eigh-
|
|
re-enacted.
|
teen hundred and sixty-eight, chapter four hundred
|
|
|
and seventy-one, entitled " Corporations," sub-title
|
|
|
" Mining and other purposes," be and the same is
|
|
|
hereby repealed and re-enacted to read as follows,
|
|
|
viz:
|
|
|
SEC. 138. No corporation formed under this arti-
|
|
|
cle, for any of the purposes mentioned in classes
|
|
Shall not hold.
|
seven, eight, nine and ten, as hereinbefore desig-
|
|
|
nated, shall hold more than one thousand acres of
|
|
|
land at any one time, if said corporation is situated
|
|
|
in Allegany county; no more than five hundred
|
|
|
acres if in any other county ; nor shall its capital
|
|
|
stock exceed three million dollars ; and the presence,
|
|
|
in person or by proxy, of a majority in interest of
|
|
|
the stockholders, shall be necessary to form a quo-
|
|
Quorum.

rum for business at any meeting of the stockholders

|
or members.
