be and they are hereby authorized and empowered to

use steam or other improved motor, as a motive
|
 
|
power on their railways, instead of horse-power, as
|
 
|
authorized by previous supplements to the act above
|
Proviso
|
mentioned; provided however, that no motor with
|
 
|
fires and boilers attached thereto, shall be used on
|
 
|
the said railways ; and further, provided that the
|
 
|
motive power hereby authorized shall not be used
|
 
|
within the limits of Baltimore city, except with the
|
 
|
consent of the Mayor and City Council thereof.
|
Construct or
lease
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the President, Man-
agers and Company of the Baltimore and Yorktown
|
 
|
Turnpike Road, be and they are hereby authorized
|
 
|
and empowered to construct or lease, or buy any
|
 
|
branch or connecting line or lines of railways, with
|
 
|
all the franchises and appurtenances thereto attached;
|
 
|
to maintain and operate such lines, and to issue and
|
 
|
dispose of stock to an amount sufficient to pay for
|
 
|
such lines; provided however, that the said President,
|
 
|
Managers and Company, shall not hold and operate,
|
 
|
in the aggregate, more than twenty miles of such
|
 
|
railway.

Repealed
|
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That all acts or parts of
|
 
|
acts, which are inconsistent with the provisions of
|
 
|
this act, be and the same are repealed.
|
 
|
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
|

effect when the same shall be accepted by a majority
|
 
|
in value of the stockholders of the President, Man-
|
 
|
agers and Company of the Baltimore and Yorktown
|
 
|
Turnpike Road aforesaid, at any general meeting.
|
 
|
