CHAPTER 343.

AN ACT to repeal the one hundred and seventh,
|
 
|
one hundred and eighth, one hundred and ninth,
|
 
|
one hundred and tenth, one hundred and twelfth,
|
 
|
one hundred and fourteenth, one hundred and
|
 
|
fifteenth, one hundred and eighteenth, and one hun-
|
 
|
dred and nineteenth sections, of article seven, of the
|
 
|
Code of Public Local Laws of the State of Mary-
|
 
|
land, relating to the City of Westminster, in Car-
|
 
|
roll county, and to re-enact the same in an
|
 
|
amended or different form.
|
 
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
|
Repealed and
|
Maryland, That the one hundred and seventh, one
|
re- enacted
|
hundred and eighth, one hundred and ninth, one
|
 
|
hundred and tenth, one hundred and twelfth, one
|
 
|
hundred and fourteenth, one hundred and fifteenth,
|
 
|
one hundred and eighteenth, and one hundred and
|
 
|
nineteenth sections, of article seven, of the Code
|
 
|
of Public Local Laws of Maryland, relating to the
|
 
|
charter of the City of Westminster in Carroll county.
|
 
|
be and the same are hereby repealed and re-enacted
|
 
|
so as to read as follows :
|
 
|
SEC. 107. The Mayor and Common Council of
|
Purchase and
|
Westminster shall have power to purchase and hold
|
hold
|
real, personal and mixed property for the use and
benefit of said corporation, and to convey and dispose
|
 
|
of the same or any part thereof; for the same pur-
|
 
|
pose, they shall also have power to pass all ordinances
not contrary to law, necessary within the limits of
|

said city to preserve the health, peace and safety of

|
the inhabitants thereof; to prevent and remove
|
 
|
nuisances and annoyances; to restrain all disorders
|
 
|
and disturbances ; to suppress gambling; to prevent
|

the firing of cannon, guns, pistols, fire-crackers or
|
 
|
other explosive intruments or materials in the cor-
|
 
|
porate limits; to suppress fires and prevent the
|
 
|
danger thereof; to make or cause to be made and
|

bridges; to license public amusements, shows and
exhibitions, fix the sums of money to be paid there-

for, and prescribe the mode of collecting the same;
