CHAPTER 272.

AN ACT to amend an act passed at the session of

the General Assembly of Maryland, held in the-

year eighteen hundred and sixty-eight, entitled arv

act to incorporate the Baltimore and Swan Lake

Passenger Railway Company.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

Altered

Maryland, That the corporate name and title of the

said corporation be altered to that of the Baltimore,

Hampden and Towsontown Railway Company.

SEC. 2. And. be it enacted, That the said corporation

capital stock.

shall be privileged, and have full authority at any

time after the passage of this act, to increase and

augment the capital stock of said corporation to the

number of fourteen thousand shares, at twenty dol-

lars each, or any number not exceeding that amount,
which, in their judgment, the President and Di-

rectors of said corporation or a majority of them

may deem necessary, subscriptions to which shall be

taken, payable at such times and on such terms, and

after such notice as the said President and Directors

or a majority of them may deem most expedient.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That nothing contained

in the seventh section of the said act, of which this

is an amendment, shall be construed as restricting,

or in any manner interfering with the power of the

said Railway Company to acquire, by means of the
proceedings authorized in the eighth section of said

act, the right of constructing its road across the road

of any turnpike or avenue company, in case of ina-

bility to agree with such turnpike or avenue com-

pany for acquisition of such right.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That any provisions in

the original act, to which this is a supplement, incon-

sistent or contrary to the rights and privileges hereby

granted, be and the same are hereby repealed ; and

that all contracts or agreements made by the said

corporation under its original corporate name, shall

not be altered or in any wise be changed, impaired

or affected by the said alteration of the corporate

name of said corporation under section first, or any
