1833.

Sec. 9. And be it enacted, That the directors, be, and
they are hereby authorised and empowered, to regulate
their calculations of interest by Rowlett's tables, and to
exact the payment of the same at the time of discounting,
and renewing their notes.

CHAP. 219.

Sec. 10. And be if enacted, That the concerns of the in-
stitution, hereby intended to be incorporated, shall be at all
times subject to the inspection of the treasurer of the Wes-
tern shore, or by such other officer or agent of the state,
as may be selected for that purpose by either branch of
the legislature.

Sec, 11. And be it enacted, That this act shall continue
and be in force, until the year one thousand eight hundred
and forty-five, and until the end of the session of the gene-
ral assembly which shall happen thereafter.

An act incorporating the Frederick Manufacturing Com-
pany.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That Lewis Birely, Stewart Gaither, Edward
Fraill, James M. Shelman and Valentine Birely, be, and
they are hereby appointed commissioners, with full pow-
er and authority to open or cause to be opened, books for

receiving and entering subscriptions for raising a capital
stock not exceeding fifty thousand dollars, in shares of
twenty dollars each, for the purpose of manufacturing car-
peting and woolen, linen and cotton cloths.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the commissioners
aforesaid , or any three or more of them, shall open said
books at some convenient place, by them to be appointed in
the city of Frederick, in Frederick county, the times and man-
ner of entering and securing such subscriptions, to be fixed
upon by said commissioneis or any three or more of them.

When, where, &c.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That whenever four hundred
shares shall be subscribed for, all persons who may then
be, or may thereafter become the actual proprietors of
shares in the said capital stock, either as subscribers for
the same, or as the legal representatives, successors or as-
signees of such subscribers, shall be, and they are here-
by made and elected a body politic and corporate, by the
