An Act to prevent the going at large of Geese and Swine in Creager's
Town,

1. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
from and after the first day of April, in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and one, no geese or swine belonging to
the inhabitants of said town shall be suffered to go at large in
Creager's-town, in Frederick county; and if any person shall find
any geese or swine going at large in Creager's-town aforesaid, it
shall and may be lawful for such person to kill, or cause to be killed,
such geese or swine. |

2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That if any person shall
be sued for killing
any swine or geese going at large in Creager's-town aforesaid,
such person may plead the general issue, and give this act and the

the Levy Court of Montgomery County to assess and levy
a sum
of money on the assessable property thereof for the
purpose of building

WHEREAS by the act to which this is a supplement,
the levy court
of Montgomery county was authorised and directed to assess and
levy on the assessable property in said county a sum of money, not
exceeding twelve hundred pounds, for the purpose of building the
gaol aforesaid, which sum has been levied and collected: And whereas
the commissioners appointed by said act did contract for and let
the building of said gaol to a certain Charles Beckwith, and did
advance to the said Beckwith the sum of one hundred and sixty
pounds, for the purpose of procuring materials for the said gaol;
that soon after the said Beckwith departed this life: And whereas
by an act passed the last session of assembly, * the heirs, executors
and administrators, and also the securities, of the said Charles
Beckwith, were to be released and exonerated from all contracts
entered into by the said Beckwith with the commissioners aforesaid,
in any manner respecting the said gaol, upon the express condition,
that the money so as aforesaid advanced to the said Beckwith should
be returned to the commissioners aforesaid on or before the first day
of March last, with interest thereon from the time the said advance
took place, which condition was not complied with: And whereas
the said commissioners did not think themselves authorised to contract
with any other person for the building the gaol aforesaid, inasmuch
as the provision aforesaid was not complied with, by reason
of which the county suffers great inconvenience; therefore, |
