SALES

            INDEX TO THE LAWS.
 

    The levy court authorised to borrow money for erecting
a gaol in Leonard town,
    Money to be levied for the support of S. Leach,

    Orphaline Female School, incorporated in the city
of Baltimore,

    Town, erected in Talbot county,
Regulations concerning the streets, &c.

    The salaries of the judges in the several judicial
districts not to be diminished during their continuance
in office,
    Permanent salaries established for the judges of the
judicial districts,
    The salary of the chief judge of the Baltimore city
court fixed, and to be paid quarterly by the treasurer,
Of the associate judgesto be levied in the manner
prescribed by the act of the same session, ch. 193
Further directions as to the payment,

    On sales on execution against state debtors, or their
securities, the governor and council to appoint a fit person
to act for the state, &c.

    Sales for the payment of fines and costs, authorised
under the act to prohibit the emigration of free negroes
into this state,
    Directions for the sale of slaves and servants after
confinement in the penitentiary,
    Provision for the sale of intestates real estates on
awarding a part of the proceeds to the tenant by the
curtesy,
    A sale to be ordered by the orphans courts, where
an equal distribution of specific articles cannot be 
made,
    A sale authorised by fieri facias of equitable estates
in lands,
    A sale to be made by the succeeding sheriff, &c. in
case of property taken, and the death of the sheriff
&c. before a sale,
    Directions as to what shall be due and legal notice
of sales on execution, &c.
    The sale of militia pensions, before they become due,
declared not valid,
    A sale of tobacco authorised that may remain in the
warehouses for four years, the owner being unknown,
&c.
    The chancellor and the several county courts authorised
to decree the sales of real estate of minors in the
cases therein mentioned,
    A sale of leasehold estates of infants may be authorised
by the orphans courts,
    The proceeds to be vested in stock, &c. and no sale
thereof to be valid, without the concurrence of the said
courts,
    Unlawful sales of negroes, &c. prevented,

    On petition by any guardian, &c. for the sale of the
real estate of any infant, &c. commission to issue for
ascertaining the value,
    The provisions of the act of 1785, ch. 72, &c. as to
the sales of real estates, extended to defendants of full
age,
    The provisions of the act of 1816, ch. 154, extended
to equitable titles,
    Sale of the real estate, when to be decreed to save the
personal,
