LEVY COURTS

            INDEX TO THE LAWS.
 

    To be erected near the waters of the Patapsco, to
prevent the extension of contagious diseases,
    Punishment for burning any lazaretto,

    Of St. Mary's county—money to be levied for her
support,

    See Education.  Schools.

    The county courts empowered to issue commissions
for marking and bounding lands held by lessees for life,
or for years, where the unexpired term will amount to
twenty-one years or upwards,
    Leasehold estates of infants may be sold by guardians
under the authority of the orphans courts,

    Of Anne-Arundel county—money to be levied towards
the support of her and her children,

    Of Montgomery county—money to be levied for his
support,

    Not to lapse or fail of taking effect by the death of any
legatee in the life time of the testator,

    The Farmers Bank of Leonard town directed to be
established at Leonard town, in Saint Mary's county,

    The tenant authorised to pay to the collector the
sum valued for the estate,
—To have an action against the lessor therefor, or
deduct it from the rent, unless otherwise agreed,
    On allowance of a writ of certiorari under the act of
1793, ch. 43, for the speedy recovery of lands and tenements,
bond, &c. to be required,

    Cases in which acknowledgment of deeds may be
by letter of attorney, and manner of proving and
recording the same,

    The governor and council required to cause public
packets and letters to be forwarded to the different
counties,

    The levy court for Baltimore county revived,
    A supplement to the act of 1794, ch. 53, directing accounts
to be left by the collectors before distraining for
the county tax,
    Returns to be made to the levy courts by the county
clerks, of fines imposed on witnesses by justices of the
peace, to be applied to the county charges,
    The levy courts directed to make reasonable compensation
to commissioners for altering election districts
in certain counties, to be levied, &c. as county
charges,
—Lists of fines under this act to be returned to them
by the county clerks, &c.
    Bonds given by constables & to be approved by the
levy courts,
    Duties of the levy courts prescribed as to the nomination
of inspectors of tobacco warehouses, &c.

    Copies of the levy lists to be sent annually by the
county clerks to the general assembly,
