FINES AND FORFEITURES

            INDEX TO THE LAWS.
 

—Conducting any vessel, &c. without having a
warrant, $150,
—On more than six entering into partnership, each
$200,
—Acting after being suspended or deprived by the
board, $100,
—When standing out to sea, not offering their services
first to the vessel nearest the land, or most in
distress, $50,
—Refusing, (if not hindered by sickness, &c.) to
go on board any vessel, when required, $100,
—Not shewing their warrants when offering their
services, $10,
—Neglecting to shew a copy of this act when receiving
their pilotage, $20,
—Refusing to shew the same, $60,
    Fine for keeping E. O. Tables, &c. for gaming,
$200,
—The tables also to be forfeited,
    Fines on persons erecting booths in Talbot county
within one mile of any Methodist meeting house during
the quarterly meeting, £10,
—On receiving greater tolls for passing the bridge
over Chester river than are allowed, or not keeping the
bridge in repair, $39,
    Fines for injuries done to county property to be paid
to the sheriffs, and accounted for,
    Fine on persons fixing seines across the rivers Transquakin
and Chickwicomico, in Dorchester county,
$100,
—On persons (other than clerks or registers of 
wills,) giving a certificate of freedom to any negro,
$500, to be applied to the use of the county,
—On clerks or registers giving certificates contrary
to this act, $500,
—On free negroes selling corn, &c. without a certificate
of good character, $5,
—On persons purchasing of them, $10,
—On persons mixing corn meal, or other flour,
with wheat flour, for sale as such, or sending the same
out of the state for that purpose, from $200 to $1000,
—On sheriffs not providing for the judges of the
elections ballot boxes and books, $500,
—On county clerks not delivering warrants for
judges of elections to the sheriffs, $50,
—On sheriffs not delivering such warrants to the
persons appointed, $50,
—On judges not attending, $50,
—On clerks when appointed refusing to act, $ 10,
—On judges of elections, or other persons, unfolding
or opening any ballot to discover the names, $50,
—On voters offering more than one ballot with a
fraudulent design, $20,
—On the presiding judges not meeting the second
day after the election, $500,
—On county clerks not transmitting copies of the
certificate and polls to the governor and council, $100,
—On the mayor of Baltimore not causing a copy of
the warrant to be served on the judges, $10,
—On persons offering to vote a second time, $10,
—On a person offering to vote in any name not his
own, or in the place of any other person of the same
name, or residing out of the district or county, $20,
—On persons voting twice, $40,
—On candidates or others using force to hinder the
election, not exceeding $250,
—On officers mustering troops or recruiting parties
within view of the place of election, $100,
