ELECTIONS

 

            INDEX TO THE LAWS.
 

    Fines and penalties under this act, (not otherwise
provided for,) to be recovered by indictment in the
counties where they may accrue,
—To be applied, one half to the informer, and the
other half to the use of the county,
—County clerks to return annually to the levy courts
lists of fines, &c. recovered,
    The judges of the county courts to give this act in
charge to the grand juries at the court next after every
election,
    All laws, clauses, &c. repugnant to, or inconsistent
with the provisions of this act, repealed,

    The election districts in Saint Mary's county, altered
from three to four,
—To be laid off by commissioners,

—Directions for the appointment of judges,
    The place of holding the election in the first district
in Baltimore county to be changed,
    Senators of the United States to be elected by the
joint ballot of both branches of the legislature,
—The persons qualified, having a majority of votes
of all the attending members, to be declared duly elected,
—One to be always an inhabitant of the eastern and
one of the western shore,
—To be commissioned in the usual form,
    The 45th article of the constitution, declaring field-officers
of the militia ineligible as senators, delegates,
&c. repealed and abolished,
    Free white male citizens of this state above twenty-one
years of age, and no other, having resided
twelve months within this state, and six months in
the county, or in the city of Annapolis or Baltimore,
next preceding the election, shall have a right of suffrage,
and shall vote by ballot, &c.
    The place of holding the elections in the first election
district in Montgomery county to be changed,
    The property qualification for members of the legislature,
and for electors of the senate, repealed and
abolished,

    The clerks and judges in Allegany county to be allowed
only two dollars per day,
    The place of holding the election in the fifth election
district in Baltimore county changed,
—A certificate to be made thereof by the judges and
recorded,
    Penalty on candidates, or other persons, giving or
promising any gift or reward to secure any person's
vote or ballot,
    The place of holding the election in the third election
district in Cecil county changed,
    Part of the election district No. 1 added to district
No. 2, in Worcester county,
    The place of holding the elections in the first election 
district in Kent county, altered,
    Allowance to the sheriffs for the performance of their
duty relative to elections, to be levied by the levy
courts,
    The place of holding the elections in the third
election district in Worcester county altered,
—Same as to the second election district in Saint
Mary's county,
—Same as to the third election district in Caroline
county,
    The election districts in Prince-George's county
to be altered from five to six,
