            INDEX TO THE LAWS.
 

    The public ground in the town of Easton, with the
court house, &c. vested in the levy court of Talbot
county, for the accommodation of the court of appeals
for the eastern shore, the county court, and other
county or state purposes,
    The powers of the commissioners enlarged as to levying
taxes, &c.

    In Somerset county—the lands belonging thereto
directed to be sold, &c.

    No part of the principal arising from a sale of infants
lands under this act to be applied towards the
maintenance or education of any infant unless the
chancellor or county courts shall consider it necessary,
    Provision made for the education of poor children
in Kent, Talbot and Cæcil counties, &c.
—Repealed as to Anne-Arundel and Montgomery
counties,
—Application of the money to former contracts,
&c.
    Provision made for schools, and for the promotion of
education in Caroline county,

    Certain funds to be distributed in the several counties,
and commissioners appointed,
    See Schools.

    The discount on prizes in lotteries to be appropriated
to the promotion of education, &c.

    Actions of—not to abate by the death of either party,

    The division line between districts No. 4 and 5 in
Washington county, to be closed and completed,
    Commissioners appointed to review and alter the
election districts and the places of holding elections in
Saint Mary's, Cæcil, Washington, Allegany, and
Prince-George's counties,
    So much of the act to regulate elections (1799, ch.
50,) as authorised the county courts to appoint judges
of elections, repealed,
    As many lists of the monies levied for county charges,
as there are election districts, to be made out annually,
and set up by the sheriffs at the places of holding
the elections as therein directed,

    Frederick county to be divided into nine election
districts instead of seven,
—to be laid off by commissioners accordingly,
    The place of holding elections in the fourth district in
Montgomery county changed to Coalsville,
    The state divided into eight districts for choosing nine
representatives to Congress,
—Into nine districts for choosing eleven electors of
the president and vice-president of the United States,
    See Districts.
    The sheriffs directed, under the penalty of fifty dollars,
to cause public notice to be given three weeks, by
advertisements set up at the most public places, of the
time and place of holding the several elections,
    Ballot boxes and books to be provided by the sheriffs,
and delivered to the judges, under the penalty of 500
dollars,
    The judges of the levy courts shall appoint between
the first Monday of April and of August, in every year,
