            INDEX TO THE LAWS.

    A bridge to be built over Patapsco Falls at Ellicott's
Old Upper Mills,

—Over Nanticoke near Vienna,

—Over the Potomac, opposite Shepherd's Town,
—Over the North Branch of Potomac,
—Over the North West Branch of Nanticoke River,
at the Rising Sun,
—Over the Western Branch Bridge near Upper
Marlborough,

    In Kent county—supplements to the act of 1797,
ch. 28, to establish a market, &c.

    In the militia, to consist of four regiments,
—Artillery, &c. attached to,

—Inspector—duties prescribed,

—The act of 1807, ch. 168, fixing their pay repealed,
 

    Duties prescribed in the militia,
 

—May be appointed in the cavalry,

    And Sarah, of Montgomery county, money to be
levied for their support,

    Where the legal title of land purchased is in them, a
conveyance to be decreed and made by the chancellor,
—Their title to lands that had been confiscated and
conveyed by commissioners by deed inoperative, to be
vested by deeds from the chancellor,

    Confiscated, how liable to be taken up by warrant,
    For other matters, See Confiscated Property.

    Declared unlawful for any president, director, &c. of
a bank, to employ a broker, &c. for the purpose of dealing
in buying, and selling or exchanging any bank
notes for less than the nominal value,
    No person shall exercise the employment of a broker
(as to bank notes allowed to be bought or sold or lottery
tickets,) without a license from the governor and council,
—Oath or affirmation directed to be taken before
such broker shall proceed to act,
—Bond to be given to the state, with security to be
approved by the treasurer, in the penalty of $20,000,
for faithful performance,
—Such bonds to be lodged in the office of the clerk
of the court of appeals, on a copy of which suit may
be brought,
—The license to be for one year only,
    Penalty on acting as a broker, not be licensed,
    Persons obtaining such license to pay therefor $500
to the treasurer,

    In Montgomery county, to be laid out, &c.
—The levy court authorised to appoint a constable,
—Academy incorporated,

    In Frederick county, to be laid out, &c.
