    2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said trustees of the general
assembly of the Presbyterian church in the United States of America,
by that name and style, be and are hereby declared to be,
competent in law to sue and be sued in any and every case, claim
or dispute, connected with or growing out of the lands contained in
the said devise.

                                        CHAP. XIV.
A Supplement to an act*, entitled, An act to authorise the Moderator
    and Commissioners of Hager's Town to levy a sum of money for
    a Fire Engine.

    BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That 
the officers of the Hager's-town fire company be, and they are
hereby directed, after having appropriated so much of the money
authorised to be levied by the act to which this is a supplement, as
shall be found necessary for the purpose therein mentioned, to appropriate
and apply the remainder thereof to the repairing of the
old engines, and to the purchase of such other apparatus as they in
their judgment may think most necessary and useful for extinguishing
fires, or in procuring such place or places for the safe keeping
of their property as they may deem most expedient.

                                         CHAP. XV.
A Supplement to an act, entitled, An act to Incorporate a Company
    to male a Turnpike Road from the line of the District of Columbia,
    where it crosses the post road leading from George Town, to
    Frederick-Town, through Montgomery and Frederick Counties, to
    Frederick-Town.

    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That 
so much of the above recited act as requires the company incorporated
thereby, to commence the turnpike road from the place
where the line of the District of Columbia crosses the main post
road leading from George-town, to Frederick-town, be and the
same is hereby repealed.

    2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the president and managers of
the said company be and they are hereby authorised and empowered,
to commence the said turnpike road at any point of the District
line at or near the place it crosses the main post leading from
George-town to Frederick-town.

    3.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That in all cases where a jury is summoned
under the provisions of the said act, to assess the damages
sustained by the person or persons, at whose request such inquisition
shall be taken, by reason of the opening the said road through
his, her or their land, and the persons so summoned, after qualifying
agreeably to the provisions of said act, shall thereupon proceed
to assess and value the damages accordingly, of which the president
and managers of said company, or some one of them respectively,
shall have given at least ten days notice; and such inquisition
shall be final and conclusive between the parties, and in assessing
the damages, the jury shall take into consideration the conveniencies
and inconveniencies, the advantages and disadvantages, if any,
arising to the proprietors of the land over which the said road may
pass.
