aforesaid; And whereas, also believing he was commissioned a
justice of the peace for the county aforesaid for the year one thousand
eight hundred and seventeen, did act as such without having
been commissioners, but so soon as he discovered that he was not
commissioned a justice of the peace for the year one thousand eight
hundred and seventeen, did cease to act as such: And whereas
great inconveniencies will be imposed on sundry persons, unless
the acts which have been done by the said William Redding as a
justice of the peace for Kent county during the year one thousand
eight hundred and seventeen, are confirmed and made valid, therefore, |

1. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
all acts and proceedings which have been done and made by the
said William Redding, during the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and seventeen, as a justice of the peace for Kent
county, shall be as valid, and shall have the same effect and operation
in law, as if the said William Redding had been duly commissioners
and qualified as a justice of the peace of the state of Maryland
in and for Kent county, according to the law of the state of
Maryland. |

CHAP. LIX.
An Act authorising and empowering the Levy Court of Saint-Mary's
County to assess and levy a sum of money for the support
and
maintenance of Elizabeth West of said County.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That
it shall and may be lawful for the levy court of Saint-Mary's county,
to assess and levy annually on the assessable property of said
county, so long as they may deem necessary, such sum as to them
may appear reasonable, not exceeding thirty dollars, for the support
and maintenance of Elizabeth West, and that the same be
collected annually by the collector of said county, and by him paid
to the said James Cox, the petitioner, or such other person as the
levy court of said county shall direct, or their order, for the purpose
aforesaid. |

A Supplement to the act*, entitled, An act for the distribution
of a
certain fund for the purpose of establishing Free Schools
in the

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That
the Right Reverend James Kemp, Nicholas Brice, Thomas Johnson,
George Harryman, William Krebs, Owen Dorsey, Samuel J.
Donaldson, Nathaniel Williams, Peter Lyttle, Thomas Hillen, and
Henry Ebaugh, be and they are hereby substituted and appointed
commissioners of the school fund for Baltimore county, in lieu of
the person appointed by the act to which this is a supplement,
which commissioners herein named shall have and exercise all the
powers and authorities vested in the commissioners for Baltimore
county by the act to which this is a supplement, and they may supply
all vacancies happening in their board, so that the same shall
always consist of eleven members, and that all such parts of the
said act as may be inconsistent with the provisions of the said act,
be and the same are hereby repealed. |
