1. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
the commissioners named in the act to which this is a supplement,
or a majority of them, be and they are authorised and required, to
lay out and open, upon the terms and conditions in the original act
mentioned, and in the straightest practicable direction, a road thirty
feet in width, from the Mine Run and Gunpowder mills, formerly
Vaughan's and now Hunter's, from thence passing by Michael
Gaul's mill to the old York road, near Forster's meeting-house,
and from thence to the Baltimore and York turnpike road. |

2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That so much of the
act to which this
is a supplement, as requires a road to be laid out in a direction
from Vaughan's Mine Run and Gunpowder mills to the Owl Branch,
be and the same is hereby repealed. |

1. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
to each regiment of cavalry within this state there shall be a staff,
to consist of one adjutant, one quarter master, one paymaster, one
surgeon, and one surgeon's mate, and one veterinary surgeon;
and the governor and council are hereby authorised and directed
to appoint the said staff, or any part thereof, upon the lieutenant
colonels or commanding officers of any regiment or regiments, by
and with the consent of the majority of the officers of said regiment
or regiments, making application in writing, and designating the
appointment or appointments, and the names of the persons to fill
the same in their respective regiments. |

2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall be the
duty of each lieutenant-colonel
or commanding officer of any regiment or cavalry,
under the penalty of fifty dollars for each neglect, to call together,
or cause to be called together, by any officer or other person they
may order so to do within their respective districts, the commissioned
and non-commissioend officers four times a year for drill exercise. |

3. AND BE IT ENACTED, That each regiment shall
meet in the
month of May in every spring, and in the month of October in
every fall, at such convenient place as the lieutenant-colonel or
commander thereof may direct; and each squadron shall meet once |
