CHAP. 128.

                                LAWS OF MARYLAND.

every spring in the month of April, and once in the month of September
in every fall, within the county in which such squadron
may belong, at such convenient place as the major or commanding
officer may direct; and each troop shall meet at least four times in
a year, independent of the regimental and squadron meetings, at
such place within his county as the commanding officer shall direct.

    4.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That all persons who have joined, or
who may in future join, any troop or troops of cavalry already
formed, or who may form themselves into a new troop or troops
one month before any draught may take place after the passage of
this act, (provided the officers thereof shall have obtained commissions,)
shall be and are hereby discharged from any infantry, artillery
or rifle company, in which he or they may have heretofore
enrolled, or may be at this time or at any time hereafter liable to
be so enrolled.
Governor to loan
arms.
    5.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the governor and council are
hereby directed, upon the requisition of the commanding officer of
each troop of cavalry, to loan to each non-commissioned officer,
and each private trooper, one horseman's sword and sword belt,
and one pistol, the commanding officer of the troop to which such
loan may be made giving bond, with approved security to the state,
for the safe keeping and returning of the same when demanded by
the state.
Bonds.     6.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That upon the execution of the bonds
by the commissioned officer of any troop or company of infantry
to which the arms are loaned by the state, that each commissioned,
non-commissioned officer and private, shall bond to the commanding
officer delivering the said arms, for the safe keeping and return
thereof when required, in the sum of twenty dollars.
Uniform.     7.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the uniform of the staff as aforesaid
shall be as follows:  For the adjutant the same as that of the
field officers of the cavalry of this state, except as regards the
plume for his cap, which shall be red, and an epaulette according 
to his grade; for the quarter-master the same, but without lace,
and except the plume, which shall be green; for the paymaster
the same as for the quarter-master, except the plume, which shall
be yellow; for the surgeon and surgeon's mate, the same as for
the quarter-master and paymaster, except that the cap shall be
black, and the plume black with a white top; for the veterinary
surgeon a coatee, but trimmed as the coats of the surgeons and surgeon's
mate, and a black plume.

Act confirmed.     BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
an act, entitled, An act to alter the time of the meeting of the general
assembly of this state, and for other purposes, be and it is
hereby confirmed and made valid to every intent and purpose
therein mentioned.
