CHAP. 123.

Seven to be a quorum.

                                LAWS OF MARYLAND.

    7.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That any seven or more of the said
trustees, shall be and are hereby declared to be a quorum, and are
hereby empowered to meet from time to time at the said academy,
or any other place within the town of Cambridge, previously designated
by the said trustees at their last meeting; and when so assembled,
may in the absence of the other trustees who do not attend,
do any act, matter or thing, which the whole number of trustees,
or a majority of them, might do were they present or attending,
any thing in any law to the contrary notwithstanding.

Land to remain to
use of academy.
    8.  And whereas, the lot of ground on which the said academy
now stands was purchased from Dr. Joseph E. Muse, who conveyed
the same to the use of the said academy or school, therefore,
BE IT ENACTED, That all land so purchased from and conveyed
by Dr. Joseph E. Muse for the use aforesaid, shall be and
for ever remain to the use of the said academy, and the trustees of the
said academy and their successors, shall be vested with all the right,
title, interest and estate, in the said land, subject to the use aforesaid.

                                        CHAP. CXXIV.
A Supplement to an act*, entitled, An act to appoint Commissioners
    to grade and level the several Squares, Streets, Lanes and
    Alleys, in the Precincts of Baltimore, west of Jones's Falls.

                                          CHAP. CXXV.
An Act to authorise a Lottery to raise a sum of money for the purpose
    of completing the Lutheran Church in Middle-Town, in Frederick
    County.

Schemes may be
proposed—bond to
be given.
    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
it shall and may be lawful for Conrad Young, Adam Lawrence,
Henry Shoemaker, Richard Templin, Henry Coller, Daniel Routsawn,
Adam Herring and Michael Motter, or a majority of them,
to propose scheme or schemes of a lottery for raising a sum of
money not exceeding three thousand dollars, clear of all expenses,
and sell and dispose of the tickets in said lottery, and to draw the
same, provided that the said Conrad Young, Adam Lawrence,
Henry Shoemaker, Richard Templin, Henry Coller, Daniel Routsawn,
adam Herring and Michael Motter, or a majority of them
that undertake to act under this law, shall, before the sale or disposal
of any ticket or tickets in said lottery, give their bond to the
state of Maryland, in the penalty of six thousand dollars, conditioned
that they will well and truly apply so much money arising therefrom,
within twelve months after the drawing of said lottery shall
be completed, as well satisfy the fortunate adventurers for prizes
drawn by them, and after deducting the necessary expenses incurred
in said lottery, shall within eighteen months after the drawing
of said lottery shall be completed, apply the money raised by such
lottery for the purpose of completing the Lutheran Church aforesaid.
Bond to be lodged
in clerk's office.
    2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That before the commissioners aforesaid
shall proceed to act as such, the said bond shall be lodged in
the office of the clerk fo Frederick county, to be there recorded,
and upon such bond, or any office copy thereof, suit or suits may
