others, Boards of Examiners of Pilots, relating to the Pilots
of the Chesapeake Bay.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries.
The House bill, entitled an Act to amend the Act incorpo-
rating the Western Maryland Railroad Company, ad t o
give additional powers to said Company,
Being on its second reading,
Mr. Stephenson submitted the following amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Strike out section 12, and insert the following:
SECTION' 12. And be it enacted, That the exemption of the
capital stock of said Company, as conferred by its Charter,
be and the same is hereby repealed, and the said capital
stock, as well as all bonds of said Company in the hands of
the holders thereof, shall be liable to taxation, as all other
property of like kind for State, municipal and county pur-
poses, and the Legislature reserves to itself the right to
change the mode of imposing taxation on said Company, as
public policy may in the future require.
Which was adopted.
Said bill, as amended, was read the third time and passed
by yeas and nays, as follows :

On motion by Mr. Claggett,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill, entitled an Act supplementary To an Act
passed at the January Session, 1858, chapter 84, entitled a
supplement to an Act to incorporate a Company to make a
Turnpike Road in Washington county, from Hagerstown in
said county, to Middleburgh, on the Pennsylvania line.
Which was referred to the Committee on Corporations.
